Military Life

Husted enlisted for the war on the16th of June,1943 in Altoona Pennsylvania. He was 18 when he enlisted and died a year later in 1944. Wesely Husted was a private during that year of service meaning he was responsible for obeying the commands of any higher-ranking officer to the best of his ability. Husted was in the 116th Infantry Regiment and 29th Infantry Division with Company H. The 29th Infantry Division trained in Scotland and England for the cross channel invasion. The 29th Infantry Division then teamed up with the 1st Division, a regiment of the 29th (116th Infantry) was in the first assault wave to hit the beaches at Normandy on Omaha Beach on D-day, June 6 1944 where Wesely Husted was killed in action.
