Wesely Husted enlisted for the war in Altoona Pennsylvania where there was a recruitment center. The Pennsylvania Homefront aided in the war with more than 900,000 Pennsylvania men and some 22,000 women serving in the armed forces. The Factories of Pennsylvania would also contribute by producing crucial resources such as steel and coal. Similar to many other states at the time, Pennsylvania was facing a food shortage, but with people of all backgrounds donating and fighting, they persisted.
